Specialty Insurance

The work between binding the risk and paying the claim.

Palisade builds operating systems for specialty insurance: placement, delegated authority, and claims. Every file is a chain of evidence with money at the end; the system keeps the chain intact.

COMMERCIAL BROKERAGE

For commercial insurance brokerage

Submissions marketed, bound, and renewed with every quote, binder, and certificate on the account's record.

The operator

A regional commercial brokerage, forty producers and account managers placing property, casualty, and auto for contractors, fleets, and manufacturers. Hard risks route through wholesalers into the E&S market, certificates go out by the dozen each day, and every account renews on a date that does not move.

The mission

Applied Epic and AMS360 hold the policies once they are issued; the placement itself runs in email around them. The system exists so every submission, quote, and declination sits on the account's record, and no renewal reaches its date unmarketed. What is at stake is commission on every account that walks at renewal, and the E&O claim that turns on who was told what, and when.

How it runs

An account's renewal opens on a clock, with the applications, loss runs, and statement of values assembling on the record as they arrive. The submission goes to market with every carrier's quote, declination, and subjectivity landing on the account, so the proposal the client signs reads from the record instead of a spreadsheet. The bind order, the binder, and the checked policy follow in sequence, each attributed to the producer or account manager who moved it. Certificates and midterm endorsements issue from the policy record itself, and next year's renewal starts from a file that is already complete.

REINSURANCE

For reinsurance brokerage

Every quote, authorization, and signed line tracked per reinsurer, from submission to close.

The operator

A treaty broking team placing a hundred programs a year across forty-odd markets, where every renewal season the desk runs on placement spreadsheets rebuilt by hand. The brokers know each reinsurer's appetite from memory; the firm's actual market position lives in inboxes and version-numbered trackers.

The mission

Zero subjectivities open past inception: each one carries an owner and a clearance date until it is signed off, because the one discovered open at claim time becomes the E&O file. Zero brokerage left in the pipeline: closings and technical accounts settle against the placement record, and agents chase unmatched premium and unbilled brokerage instead of a year-end reconciliation finding them. The slip still trades on PPL and Whitespace; the record underneath is the desk's own, and renewal opens with the market position already known.

How it runs

Every market touch lands on the placement record as it happens: quote terms, authorizations, and written lines attributed to the broker who took them, subjectivities carried with owners and clearance dates until each is signed off. Signed lines settle against authorized capacity rather than against a spreadsheet's recollection, and the client-ready tracker is a read of the record rather than a rebuild of it. When the renewal opens, last year's placement is already on the desk: who quoted, on what terms, and with what conditions.

FINANCIAL LINES

For professional & financial lines MGAs

Every bind, referral, and bordereau proven within the terms of the delegated authority.

The operator

A program underwriter holding delegated authority from three carriers, binding management liability, E&O, and cyber for a niche the open market prices badly. A dozen underwriters write daily against binding-authority limits, and the monthly bordereau is assembled after the fact from whatever the bind log remembers.

The mission

Zero binds outside the authority: every risk binds inside the pen's limits, and anything past appetite routes as a referral that returns with the carrier's sign-off on the file. The bordereau compiles from the bind record on the day it is due; carriers run VIPR to police the bordereaux they receive, and one built from the record arrives with nothing to police. What is at stake is the pen itself: delegated authority renews on clean audits and is lost the month a carrier stops trusting the numbers.

How it runs

Each submission moves from triage to bind with the underwriting decision attributed to the underwriter who made it, and risks outside appetite route as referrals that carry the carrier's sign-off back onto the file. Bordereaux compile from the bind record itself, so the month-end report is evidence rather than reconstruction. Capacity consumption reads live against the treaty instead of surfacing at quarter close.

CLAIMS TPA

For third-party claims administrators

Claim files that hold their state through intake, reserves, evidence, and settlement, under carrier and regulator audit.

The operator

A third-party administrator adjusting claims for carriers and self-insureds across a dozen programs, with adjusters carrying hundreds of open files each. Every carrier audits the files, every regulator runs a complaint clock, and the book of business is won and lost on audit scores and cycle time.

The mission

Zero blown deadlines on the file that gets pulled: the diary and the statutory clocks run on the record, and governed automation clears the routine entries so adjusters spend their time on decisions. Every reserve movement and payment carries a sign-off at the authority that permitted it, so the carrier audit and the market conduct exam read a file kept in the ordinary course instead of one assembled the week before the visit. Audit scores and cycle time are what renew the book; leakage across thousands of settlements is the client's money, and carriers move books over it.

How it runs

Intake opens the file with the coverage question and the reporting party on the record from the first notice. Every reserve movement and payment carries the adjuster's sign-off at the authority level that permitted it, and photographs, statements, and medical records bind to the file as they arrive rather than at audit time. Settlement closes the file with the full chain from intake to release standing behind it, readable by the carrier and the regulator alike.

CARGO & LOGISTICS

For cargo & logistics MGAs

Cover issued per shipment at transaction speed, with certificates and claims evidence that move with the cargo.

The operator

A cargo MGA insuring tens of thousands of shipments a quarter for forwarders and shippers, where cover must issue at the speed the freight books. Certificates go out by the hundred each day, and when a container goes missing the file that defends the claim is scattered across booking systems and email.

The mission

Zero undeclared shipments: declarations post as the freight books, so the premium earned matches the cargo actually carried; on an open cover the gap between those two numbers is straight leakage. Zero claims paid blind: the certificate, the declared terms, and the custody chain, down to what the tracker logged in transit, are on the shipment record before the loss arrives. Recoveries move the loss ratio by whole points: subrogation that goes out with the survey and the handoff evidence attached gets paid, and subrogation reconstructed from email gets written off. Insurity's Oceanwide suite already issues certificates at volume; the system keeps the file that defends each one.

How it runs

Declarations post as shipments book, and each certificate issues against its declaration with terms attributed to the program that authorized them. When cargo is lost or damaged, the claim file assembles from the shipment's own record, with the custody chain at every handoff and the survey evidence as it arrives, instead of being reconstructed after the fact. Recoveries against carriers proceed with that evidence in hand, which is the difference between subrogation pursued and subrogation written off.
