The operator

A renewables O&M contractor holding availability guarantees across forty solar and storage sites, dispatching technicians into three utility territories from one control room. Every site carries its own interconnection agreement, its own permit conditions, and an owner who reads the monthly performance report line by line.

The mission

The system attributes every hour of downtime as it happens: grid, weather, equipment, or crew, at the inverter where the contract counts it. The availability number that decides liquidated damages closes the month already defended, and the hours a manufacturer owes go out as warranty claims with the fault record attached. Recovered warranty hours are direct margin; an attribution the operator cannot prove becomes liquidated damages paid on someone else's failure. Every energized-work authorization remains a governed sign-off that holds up when the utility or the insurer asks who approved it.

How it runs

Work orders open against the asset registry and build their evidence as the truck rolls: readings, photos, torque values, each entry attributed to the technician who made it. Permit-to-work runs as a governed sign-off rather than a laminated card: isolation confirmed, authorization recorded, closure attested. When an inverter fails inside warranty, the downtime clock and the fault record are already one file the manufacturer cannot argue with.

The operator

A propane and heating-oil jobber running fifteen trucks through the heating season: sixty stops a day per driver, degree-days deciding who gets filled, and tank-safety records the insurer prices against. The owner knows product left the rack; proving where every gallon went is the nightly fight.

The mission

Every gallon out of the rack reconciles against metered tickets the same night, so variance surfaces as a truck problem today instead of a write-off at year end. Every out-of-gas call closes with the leak check performed, recorded, and signed at the tank: nearly half of the industry's liability claims trace to that one skipped procedure, and the insurer prices the book against the record. Fewer runouts on monitored tanks mean fewer emergency runs, and gallons per stop is the number that decides the season's margin.

How it runs

Every delivery is ticketed as it is pumped, with meter reading, tank, and driver attributed at the point of custody transfer rather than keyed in the next morning. Routing runs off tank levels and degree-days instead of guesswork, and settlement reconciles the rack load against the tickets, so a missing gallon surfaces the same night. Compliance records accrue with the work: the leak check performed, recorded, and signed at the tank.

The operator

An NDT and mechanical-integrity services firm running certified technicians across plants, terminals, and pipeline rights-of-way, with twenty crews out on any given morning, each carrying qualifications the client's auditor will want to see. The job packet is the product: the findings, the readings, and the report a customer's compliance program stands on.

The mission

No job leaves the site unbilled or undocumented: the report assembles as the readings are taken and goes out with the crew instead of two weeks behind them. The invoice runs off the same record, so revenue stops aging on the reporting desk. No technician is turned away at the gate: dispatch checks certifications against the scope before the truck rolls, because a crew refused at the client's site is a mobilization paid for nothing.

How it runs

Dispatch assigns the crew whose certifications match the scope, and the record builds shot by shot as the work happens: every reading tied to the test point it was taken at, every indication attributed to the technician who captured it. Customer sign-off closes the job at the site. The client's inspection data management system stays the system of record for the asset, and the packet lands there clean instead of being re-keyed from a Word template. Billing runs off the same record, so the invoice and the evidence never disagree.

The operator

An environmental testing and compliance firm whose field teams pull samples at a hundred client sites a week across monitoring wells, stack tests, and discharge points, and whose findings end up in front of a regulator either way. Every sample is only as good as its custody record, and every exceedance opens a corrective action someone has to drive to closure.

The mission

Zero missed sampling events: the schedule generates from the permit obligations themselves, so a quarterly well or a stack test cannot fall out of a coordinator's calendar. Zero samples voided on paperwork: custody and the holding clock are tracked from the bottle forward, and a sample at risk surfaces before the lab rejects it. A voided sample is a remobilization the firm eats, and a missed event is a violation on the client's permit with the firm's name on the filing.

How it runs

Custody transfers are recorded at each handoff, from field to courier to lab, attributed and time-stamped, so the chain survives cross-examination. Sampling schedules run against permit obligations rather than a coordinator's calendar, and corrective actions carry their evidence from finding through verification to closure. When the report goes out, every line traces to a sample the firm can defend.

CERTIFIED PARTS

For certified parts manufacturing

The certification packet ships with the part; a missing document holds the lot.

The operator

A precision machine shop running aerospace and defense work under AS9100, with thirty jobs on the floor, each carrying a traveler, a heat-lot pedigree, and a customer whose receiving inspection will reject the lot over a missing signature. The parts are excellent; the paperwork is what gets audited.

The mission

The certification packet finishes when the last operation closes: every stamp, mill cert, and inspection result is checked as the traveler advances, so a gap is caught at the operation where it opened, while the lot can still make its ship date. A lot held at the customer's receiving dock over a signature is an invoice delayed and a scorecard hit that prices the next award. When the registrar or the customer's supplier quality engineer pulls a job, the record is already the audit answer.

How it runs

Travelers run as live records: each operation stamped by the operator who ran it, each material lot traced to its mill cert, each buy-off checked before the job advances. First article builds its AS9102 forms as measurement happens and lands in Net-Inspect the way Boeing and the primes now require. Release is a governed sign-off: the packet is assembled by the work itself rather than by a quality clerk the night before shipment.
